The Meiji No Iro series is a selection of inks inspired by popular colours from the Meiji (1868 - 1912) era of Japan.

Purple had been considered a noble colour.  Some people were afraid of using purple, so often used Ebicha instead, which became a popular colour for Hakama (Japanese traditional pants) intended for female students.
