How to make a traditional seal with Inkt flexible sealing wax

Add a bit of distinction and romance to your correspondence with Inkt sealing wax and stamps. Inkt wax sticks are made of flexible wax with a built-in wick for great results with maximum convenience and simplicity.

You will need:

• Wax stick
• Seal stamp
• Lighter

Melt your wax:

Place the wax stick directly over the spot where you want to make your seal. Light the wax stick, holding it at about a 45 degree angle, then let the wax drip down. Allow the wax to slowly drip and form a puddle about the size of your seal (generally about 25 - 30 drips for our stamps. Gently rotate your wax stick as it drips to ensure you’re burning down your wax evenly. Getting some occasional black soot mixed in with the wax is normal.

Stir and shape your wax

When you have enough wax dripped onto your envelope, take the opposite tip of the wax stick and gently swirl the dripped wax into a circle. This will remove air bubbles and give you a uniform thickness. Stir a bit more if you want to minimize the marbled effect from any soot.

Stamp your seal

To avoid the hot wax getting stuck on your stamp, put a little moisture on the stamp. You can do this with a breath or a quick dab with a damp sponge. While the wax is still warm (after waiting about 10 seconds) take your seal and place it onto the wax. Push down straight and gently and hold. Leave the stamp in place to rest for about 5 - 10 seconds as the wax cools, then gently remove the stamp from the wax, pulling straight up. If you feel strong resistance when you’re pulling up, let it cool for a few more seconds before trying again. Allow 1 – 2 minutes for the seal to fully cool.

One wax stick is enough for about 10-12 seals
