Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments may be used any time a metallic or pearlescent effect is desired: mix them into acrylics, oils, printing inks, encaustics, alcohol inks, epoxy, glues, casting resins, clay, varnishes. For calligraphy they can be used with gum arabic (1 teaspoon Pearl Ex, 1/2 teaspoon Gum Arabic, 1 teaspoon water) to create a metallic ink suitable for dip pens.

The particle size is small enough to be able to be applied with many airbrushes (size varies with colour).
